Quality with LED illumination

Unique “Synchronized Adjustment of Convergence and Parallax” for high quality, stereoscopic fundus images through any pupil size.

More

Unique “Synchronized Adjustment of Convergence and Parallax” for high quality, stereoscopic fundus images through any pupil size. Precise selection of the observation and illumination optics for small pupils down to 1.0 mm.
Excellent optical performance due to the multi-coated illumination system. Exact vertical alignment of the illumination with the observation path further minimising the reflections.
Due to the mounting of the optics on an aluminum frame, the OMEGA 500 is solid, long lasting, and is guaranteed to be dustproof.
The HC 50L Headband Rheostat controls the LED illumination as well as the XHL Xenon-Halogen illumination.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Which power source is compatible with my HEINE OMEGA500?

The HEINE OMEGA 500 can be used with the belt-worn HEINE mPack (8.5 hours opeating time) or with the cable-free HEINE mPack UNPLUGGED (3.5 hours operating time).

How do I change the light source in my HEINE OMEGA500 LED?

The HEINE LEDs feature an extremely long durability, sustaining their illumination quality throughout the whole product life time. Therefore an exchange of the LED is not necessary.

How can I clean and disinfect the HEINE OMEGA500?

Before cleaning, disconnect from the power source. Use a suitable cloth only to wipe the surfaces of the instrument and the ophthalmoscopy lenses. The instrument and the loupe may be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Any cleaning agent used must be suitable for use on plastic surfaces. An alcohol-based surface disinfectant can be used to clean the instrument ophthalmoscopy lense. The use of a spray disinfectant and soaking or disinfection in a machine are not permitted. Please only use disinfectants based on alcohol. The lamp can be cleaned, with a dry cloth if necessary. If touched a patients eye with the loupe you can also disinfect the loupe by Incidin® Liquid and Bacillol® plus. We recommend to use Incidin® Liquid und Bacillol® plus to disinfect the device.

The HEINE OMEGA500 is marketed as dust proof. Why do I still see dust when looking through the front glass of the indirect ophthalmoscope?

The term dust proof means that the instrument is protected against the infiltration of dust. The instruments have no open and unprotected windows. Nevertheless, in the unlikely case that some dust particles get encased inside the instrument in a heavy use environment, the product can be serviced by HEINE. Microparticles that can be seen through the instrument are normal and don’ t obstruct examination.

How can the optical system be adjusted for better observation of undilated pupils?

By moving the adjustment lever you can change the angle of illumination (parallax) and the line of sight for each pupil (convergence) to gain fully illuminated, stereoscopic views, not just through fully dilated pupils but also through pupils as small as 1mm in diameter.
