Tips for Choosing a Loupe/Headlight
There are a few things to keep in mind when selecting the right loupe: from the image quality, working distance and the right magnification, to the question of whether or not to incorporate a headlight. Ergonomic aspects also play an important role. When a loupe is perfectly adapted to the user, it offers many benefits. When a loupe is not perfectly adapted to the user it is sometimes not just the image quality but also the user’s own back that suffers.
Many magnification loupes are individually manufactured for their users and cannot be adjusted afterwards. In the case of TTL (through-the-lens) loupes, the loupes are directly inserted into the spectacle glass, meaning that the pupil distance and the angle of view are permanently fixed. Other models offer a bit more flexibility with these parameters, so they can be adjusted if needed. This is another reason why it is a good idea to be well informed before making a purchase.
